Dentist visit

I brush and floss my teeth twice a day, look after them and see my dentist twice a year. No issues with my teeth.

However I visited the dentist yesterday and had a scale and polish and x rays done. The scaling really hurt, much more than usual. Even today my teeth still feel highly sensitive. I have brushed my teeth a few times since the visit with sensitive toothpaste, used gengigel mouthwash etc to try and soothe the sensation but it hasn’t settled yet.

Will this be something that naturally passes in the coming days, or at what point should I contact the dentist?

I'm not a dentist, but if this were me, and I was still feeling the sensitivity by tomorrow, I'd drop my dentist an email to ask this question. They will be in the best position to tell you what you should or shouldn't be experiencing. I don't think it's unreasonable for you to be concerned especially since it's not happened in the past. Good luck and I do hope it settles down for you.

Thanks for letting us know. I'm glad it settled down eventually. I just am not willing to suffer in silence about things any more. I'd rather be a nuisance and ask if it's to expected or normal than put up with something that might have a simple remedy.
