Nine-year-old feeling sick for over a week

My 9yo daughter has been feeling sick for over a week now but not really many other symptoms apart from occasional dizziness/headache. She's not been sick at all. Is there a weird virus going around or is something else potentially going on? It seems to be there more in the morning and then gradually subsides throughout the day. She says her tummy isn't sore but she constantly feels sick. She says she needs to distract herself from it by keeping occupied as when she stops doing anything it gets worse. It's interfering with school now so I'd really like to get to the bottom of it as its really bizarre.

I have stomach problems myself (atrophic gastritis) so I can't really compare as my symptoms are all over the place anyway but I have felt a bit worse over the past few days, potentially other reasons for that though. Her symptoms have been going on for 8 days now so possibly beyond a usual virus? .

Is what she’s actually feeling anxiety? My little niece was feeling anxiety but she didn’t know what that was so actually described it as tummy ache. It was actually that nervous anxious feeling which she thought was nausea.

Is she anxious about something?
Has she started puberty? Some people feel sick before or during their period (although 8 days prior would be unusual).
Really i think she needs to see a doctor as there are so many things this could be.

We have explored this as she does often say she has a poorly tummy, particularly after going to the loo just before school. I've asked her if she's worried about school etc but she says she's not. She does struggle with it though so it's a possibility, although I think she would be honest with me as she usually is.

Oh, we did go to the Dr on Monday but they brushed it off as viral.

My DD was a bit older (12) but she also had tummy pains, and when we went to the GP, they said it might be anxiety and we didn't think it fitted and DD laughed off the idea that it could be anxiety. However, as we started to see a pattern (it got better in the holidays and then returned just before going back to school) we realised it was anxiety.

Just knowing that has helped DD and, looking back a couple of years later, she can now see that she was feeling insecure with friendships.

Obviously you should keep in your mind that the cause could be medical, but anxiety can be quite subconscious so I wouldn't rule it out.

Isn’t this the time you can get grumbling appendicitis, I started my periods coming up 10 could never explain the pain but at nearly 45 thought I was going to throw up other day before the time of month x

Oh I hope she doesn't get appendicitis, I had it age ten and it was awful. Only nausea though thus far so hopefully not that.

If not anxiety, I think she may have had a bug that's upset her stomach for a bit as there's now a few off at her school. Not sure what they're off with though. She still had some nausea this morning but she did go in today at least.
