Hi all
been feeling a bit rubbish last few months, very cold and mood lower very tired a lot but I do have bipolar. As part of my annual bloods I have to have as on an anti psychotic my thyroid results were classed as abnormal but no further investigation needed. Should I query this? Thanks

Thyroid function test
Serum TSH level 2.47 mu/L [0.35 - 4.94]
Serum free T4 level 10.9 pmol/L [9.0 - 19.1]

Need to focus on the free T4 level - from memory 10 is high
go back and query this
good luck
also them about the antibody test for hashimoto

That FT4 level is actually very low in range. It probably means that you are also low in the active thyroid hormone (T3), which would account for your symptoms.

Advice on the Thyroid UK forum.

GPs in the UK will not threat this or investigate. I had a diagnosis privately for fertility and my GP changed my meds despite the endocrinologist and OB advice. It is now in my pregnancy they listen but will see what happens after.

You can have some tests privately and endocrinologist consult but the thyroid may not ve your answer..

My thyroid packed up by itself but one of my friends is on an anti psychotic (not sure which) that apparently suppresses thyroid funcrion so they've got her on Levothyroxine as well. She said her clinical team said her thyroid function would likely return to normal if she ever came off whatever it is.

High TSH is the indicator - it's what your pituitary sends out if it can't find enough thyroxine coming from your thyroid gland. Your numbers are both 'within range' which probably explains why no action needed now but keep an eye on it via the annual blood test.

Yes they do. I've only ever been treated by NHS and they found it. Took me a few visits to GP and quite a bit of eye rolling at the suggestion that it could be a lack of sleep that was causing me to keep falling asleep, but they got there in the end.

her blood tests are perfectly normal - NHS GPs will not usually threat this as OP has already been told…
