Fainting after vomiting??

This has been happening to me for most of my adult life.
I’m just recovering now from a sick bug/food poisoning (don’t know which one).
I gave up alcohol because of it.
It’s extremely scary as after I pass out, I can still vomit through my closed mouth so there’s obviously a chance of choking.
Luckily, DH has always been there when this happens. He says that after I vomit, then faint, my body goes extremely still. I’m usually passed out for about 30 seconds.
On one occasion, he had to force my jaws open as to stop me from choking whilst I was vomiting.
I don’t remember any of this except the vomiting.
The last time this happened was thankfully years ago and, because I gave up alcohol which was old often result in being sick, this scenario only happens if I get a sick bug or food poisoning which is obviously not that often.
Years ago, after one horrible incident, I did get to see a neurologist who couldn’t figure out why this happens or how to avoid it.
Any help or advice would be extremely helpful.

Apparently my teeth clamp shut, my eyes are wide open and my body goes as stiff as a board. I never have any recollection of this, DH has told me.

I have this reaction aswell when I vomit and faint. Do you have naturally low blood pressure by any chance? It’s to do with your vagus nerve.

@Pricelessadvice
Yes I do have low blood pressure. I’ve read a bit about the catalytic nerve.
What I’m hoping to achieve is finding a way of avoiding this happening again.

Someone else has mentioned this, but I suspect this is what you are experiencing.

I was told it was a natural reaction because of my blood pressure issue.
I’ve just learnt to live with it. I have the episodes after a vomit, if I faint for any other reason, if I have medication that doesn’t agree with me etc It’s very strange.

You get good at vomiting and then getting flat on the floor within an instant! Though when I had norovirus and things were flying out of both ends, it was a bit hellish!
It does occasionally happen even when I’m already lying down, which is a pain. If that happens I do as many slow deep breaths as I can.

@Pricelessadvice
I think mine differ in that I often vomit whilst I’m having the “seizure”/blacked out which is why it’s such a worry re potentially being on my own in the future.

Thank you @Lougle
I’ll have a look at that later.
GP at 5. Fingers crossed.

So, the GP thinks it’s likely that it’s vasovagal syncope but has referred me to a neurologist and I’m to book in an ECG at the GPs. I’m pleased with the outcome.
The GP told DH that he did all the right things.
Just praying it will be another few years until it happens again 🤞🏻
