DS went to one during the summer holidays when he was 4 or 5. It was for children who had problems with C's and T's ie saying Tat for Cat.
I didn't go in but he seemed to enjoy it.

DS may or may not be going to one this summer. Despite being at least 12 months behind in his his language, SALT think he may be too able to be eligible for the group . I've not had any info through yet, so can't be much help. I'ld ring up again mommy6. Does your DS2 have phonological problems or other language problems?

My dd had a 6 week course I had to go in with her (she was 3) and they played lots of games which involved them attempting to say sounds/words before having their turn. She loved it.

My DS3 had about 6 weeks of group sessions when he was around 4 - there were 5 children (all boys), all with quite profound speech problems, and it worked really well. The game playing bit of SALT worked well because they were playing with other children rather than adults, and became quite competitive, but at the same time were very sweet and encouraging with each other. They all clapped DS3 when he made the "c" sound for the first time . There were 2 SALTs involved, and parents stayed in the room (mainly to translate where needed).

Hassled very similar to how ours was, we had "homework" to do to, but all very light hearted and don't push it type of attitude.
