Vasectomy risks bizarrely high

My OH started looking into a vasectomy but was told there is a 1 in 15 chance of chronic long term pain. My own googling suggests 1-2% are left with this. I’m amazed so many men have it done! I certainly wouldn’t with those odds. I had an elective c section dir my last birth and a friend subsequently told me her Dr asked if she wanted her tubes tied, I wish I’d had that suggestion

1-2% vs how many women are left with long term injuries and issues from pregnancy, birth or contraception?

Considering the side effects of hormonal contraception on women, or the rates of long term pain and damage from childbirth, a 1 to 2% risk isn't so bad, especially as it seems often the pain does resolve within 18 months or so.

But all things carry risk, and having surgery to get your tubes tied (if you're not already having a c section) is both riskier and less effective.

If your OH doesn't want to father any children and wont have a vasectomy then he just needs to stop copulating, it's simple.

That’s nothing compared to how fucked your body will he in later life after going through labour.

Thanks for responses. You all made me giggle. I don’t think it has to be viewed like this. We can of course use contraception.

I have also read about this and was shocked by it. I would never want my OH to take this risk especially as the pain can be severe and long lasting and one of the few treatments for it is castration!

I think a lot of people are a bit too cavalier when it comes to this but then we just use condoms (and always have for over 20 years, I've never tried hormonal contraception, heard too many horror stories) and don't have any children so I've never really had to suffer due to contraception side effects or childbirth etc and so don't have a score to settle I suppose.

I find the way people on here go on about punishing their OHs who won't agree to a vasectomy with no sex to be bizarre, don't they enjoy sex at all? If so why are they having it?

I recommend condoms OP, no side effects at all, cheap if you buy in bulk and they make for easy clean up.
