Adult chicken pox!!

My 6 year old has chicken pox, I cannot stop scratching and there is tiny bumps on my skin- not red and blistered but is this the start? Woke up yesterday with a banging sore head but otherwise ok.

I had them as a child but mild apparently. I’ve heard so many horror stories about adults being seriously unwell with them, do I contact the doctor if they come out as pox or just wait it out the way my son has?

You are more likely to have shingles I think than chickenpox? I would contact your GP to be on the safe side, you may be able to get anti-viral meds as Shingles can be nasty.

You should contact your GP. It is occasionally possible to have chicken pox a second time in adulthood if your first case was really mild, or possibly you had something like hand foot and mouth rather than chickenpox. It does tend to be more aggressive in adults, and if you present quickly enough your gp can prescribe antivirals for you, but that needs to be started very soon after the rash begins for them to be effective (within 24 hours I think).

Since you had them as a child, it could be milder, but adults can have worse symptoms. It's a good idea to reach out to your doctor just to be safe, especially if the pox appear. They'll help you manage it properly.
