she literally has something all the time - for the last 9 weeks she has had cold, tummy bug, high fever virus type thing before that other bugs and problems. She was BF for a while and gets a balanced varied diet with fresh veg etc still drinks milk...

i am at a loss as to why...wondered what everyone else thinks...

DD1 seemed constantly ill for a while after starting nursery

I remember a terrible Autumn-Winter where she had multiple ear and throat infections, chickenpox, D&V, an UTI as well as bog-standard coughs and colds

She was BF for 9m

DD2 is hardly ever ill, if she gets something she's laid low for a day and then bounces back. BF for 16m

Mine was constantly ill when she was 2 - 4. Constant coughs colds, rashes, high temps (but never chicken pox!)
now at 8 she is so healthy - not had a day off so far this year - one illness last oct. I've probably jinxed things now but wanted to give you some hope!

All 3 of mine are rarely ill. All bf for 10 mths and brought up in Africa. Tough as old boots

Once a child is sick their immune system is compromised thus making it easier for them to get sick again, quicker, etc until their bodies have time to bounce back.

I think it's luck. DD has never been ill (20 months). Literally not once (I realise I am tempting fate with this post). She was mix fed.

I was constantly sickly as a child so I was expecting her to be the same.

The only thing I can put it down to is that she has a nanny rather than nursery. So I assume I will pay for that when she starts school.

It is interesting isn't it? maybe it is genetic..I was never ill but DH was constantly ill as a child.

Apart from one huge blip (meningitis!) when he was 4, my 10-year-old is ridiculously healthy. He never gets stomach bugs, colds, etc etc.
Ds2 however, seems to cop for everything going and is particularly susceptible to ear infections, coughs and colds...
Wierd, when they were both raised in the same way, same house, same foods etc.

meant to add, in her twenty months of live I have been off sick four times and in hospital once so it's not as if there are no bugs in our house .

life not live

and i agree with you CM she doesn't seem to get over the last bug properly...

How old is she Crush? I find when they are little (under 5) they are more susceptible. Also when they have just started school/nursery/moved house etc. As they get bigger they get stronger.

has she had any big changes recently - ds1(11) had the usual run of colds, ear infections, tummy bugs etc when he was little, peaking between 2 and 4, but all the way through primary was bouncing with health. He changed to a new school last September, was mostly ok for the first term, then from January had a nearly 4 month run of virtually permanent illness of one kind and another - tummy bug x 2, ear infections x 3, colds x 2, culminating in proper flu which completely wiped out his easter holidays. Touch wood, the last few weeks he's been ok, but it was getting us all down as it just seemed never-ending. I've just been trying to boost his immune system with good, fresh food as much as poss and making sure he gets to bed at a reasonable time. Hopefully it won't last too much longer for your dd
