NHS phone appointment never called.

I've been sitting by my mobile since 9am and even taken it to the toilet.

Spam callers managed to ring me, but NHS now say "call couldn't connect, they rang 3 times" and re booked for 3 months time.

What should I do to prevent it just happening again?

Thats awful !

Nitgel · 27/03/2026 14:32

Did their call register on your phone

NorthFacingGardener · 27/03/2026 14:33

I would call the complaints team if you can find out the number.
Firstly check they have your correct mobile number and tell them you haven’t received calls and can’t wait another 3 months, they need to try again today.

Thats frustrating. If using an iPhone, do you have unknown callers blocked or any other settings that may have silenced the call? There’s a default setting and its happened to a relative. Double check they were trying the right number?

No, no missed calls at all.

I would escalate this to a service manager or if that gets nowhere, to PALs. It’s not fair to make you wait for another 3 months.

MilliM · 28/03/2026 21:32

That happened to me and they DNA'd me. Sat by the phone three hours and by 5pm there was no-one there. Next day I rang the secretary and explained that my phone hadn't rung. Asked for FTF next time even if I had to travel 40 miles. They rebooked me for FTF the following week as requested.

tinyspiny · 28/03/2026 21:39

This is one of the reasons why I only accept f2 f appointments and if they won’t do that then I don’t bother , I’d rather pay for a private appt , fortunately I can afford it .

MutherTrucker · 28/03/2026 21:41

Check that you don’t have your phone set to not ring for withheld numbers

I'll take a look. Not intentionally set

When you say spam callers, did you answer the calls or just assume they were spam? Only asking because our doctors surgery have started calling from 0300 numbers and sometimes mobile numbers too. I assumed it was a spam call until they left me a voicemail saying who they were

Lifesyoungdream · 29/03/2026 12:05

My constant rang on my landline and I didn’t realise till about three months later when I happen to check to check the voice mail. We never use the landline but obviously it was the number on my records.

I answered all calls in a flash :)

When this happened to me for a hospital appointment I sent a screenshot of my call log from my mobile to PALS and asked them to investigate why I hadn’t been called.

Do this. I'd also be tempted to send an invoice for £67 for your wasted time. Our apt letters bang on about the cost of every no show costing £67. It's quite nasty when sent by an imperfect organisation but what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
