hi

I was diagnosed with depression about 6 weeks ago after the Dr ran a series of bloods and came back with no other conclusion but i dont think im drepressed!!

My weight after having my DD who is now 19 months just fell off over 3 months, last summer I lost 5 stone, now weigh 9 stone and sittin quite happily at that.

My BP 6 weeks ago was 160/100 which doc said was high for me, but ive been fainting and passing out 6 or 7 times in the last 2 weeks, so went back to see GP and my BP was 107/40

so ive got to go and have a ECG tomorrow, what does it involve and what can cause such a shift in BP?

ECG is very quick - you have to take all your clothes off your top half inc bra

as to what causes it, don't know, but they are doing the right thing by investigating

good luck

hello again

An ECG is when they stick wires to your chest, and also your wrists and ankles. They they press a buttom on the machine and it prints out the rhythm of your heart rate. It's entirely painless, and quick. Wear comfortatble clothes - no underwired bra. Sometimes they can put the wires under your clothes, somethimes they are you to remove your top (you can ask for a towel to keep yourself covered if you are embarrased).

Your heart and blood vessels effect your blood pressure, so it's good they are doing the ECG.

Hope it goes ok!

the GP mentioned perhaps a hole in the heart but i would have thought that would have manifested itself earlier in life, im 21 had a baby and my apendix out - so have spent time in hospitals before.

plus, havent told my docter this but there is a chance i could be very early PG, but not tested yet - could this affect my BP so dramatically?

blood pressure can change in pregnancy, I've answered on your other thread, and it is a good idea if you do a test tomorrow morning and mention to them there's a possibility you may be pregnant.

other causes of fainting and changes in blood pressure are: viruses - have you been ill recently? have you been on a diet, stressed out at all?
