Hello! I know this is a real ask, and I know I couldn’t tame any opinions for actual medical diagnostics I’m just really wanting a second opinion on what I’ve already been told..
this is a CT of my Cheat neck thorax , any advise would be so very appreciated x

Anybody know how to interpret CT contrast images?

What is your diagnosis?

Greybeardy · 22/03/2026 08:16

it needs interpreting in the context of symptoms/signs and the whole scan. Radiologist with access to the whole thing is your best bet.

LasVegass · 22/03/2026 08:21

You can’t seriously ask for a second opinion off a bunch of strangers on here.

Like I said, not for a medical opinion no. I’m just curious of the opinions of others who may have some knowledge that’s all

asking for others opinions is basically asking for a second opinion?

also no context given, symptoms, duration etc etc. is this even your own scan? So many questions. Why aren’t you trusting your healthcare professional because if something is found it has been reviewed by the radiologist, your consultant and most likely the MDT.

Spanglishmummy3 · 22/03/2026 09:53

i don’t have the report back yet, this was an image I snapped in clinic. Guys, you can either help or opt not to? There really isn’t the need to be causing upset. Simply move on. Some people may want to genuinely help me like I’ve seen in others posts . I mean, am I causing you harm? Think you need to check yourself

best advice you'll get on here is that that single screenshot without any context is uninterpretable - no one 'helping' by offering ideas beyond that is 'helping' at all. Whoever was showing you the images will have some of the context and be able to interpret it pretty well. The radiologist doing the report is the expert in the imaging (but even then their findings need to be correlated with symptoms/signs and the rest of the pictures).

sparklyblueberry2 · 22/03/2026 09:58

Well the image you sneakily snapped is distorted and you’ve not provided any details of why the scan was done so I don’t think you’ll get any helpful answers regardless. Not saying it to be mean, it’s the truth and what will you do if you hear an ‘inaccurate’ but worrying answer? You’ll be going out of your mind until you can talk to someone.
I don’t know if this reassures you in any way…..if the people taking the scan spotted something obvious serious and/or sinister they would have sent you from the scan to A&E to be reviewed.

Bjorkdidit · 22/03/2026 09:59

Anyone who is qualified to interpret the image wouldn't do it for an image posted with no context on a chat forum.

And if they did, they'd probably have their professional association to explain themselves to.

Musicaltheatremum · 22/03/2026 10:05

A CT scan takes images in slices. This image looks as though it is sliced down through the back of you. You can't see all the organs properly so there's nothing much to go on. Even if a radiologist looked at that there would be nothing to report on as you need all the images in both planes. I am medical but can't interpret scans as that's not my area. But know a little about them. As everyone has said without any clinical information then it's meaningless

Who told you it was sneakily? I’m on a 2week wait for cancer ! I took it cos the report won’t show until April. It’s actually my business how I feel isn’t it? So pls move on, It’s my post and I would rather not hear your opinions on what I should most. Are you a moderater? No so get lost

I hope your appt comes through quickly

Spanglishmummy3 · 22/03/2026 10:13

I keep trying to post the history, no idea why it isn’t showing. 10 year undiagnosed history of sarcoidosis so ultimately untreated, now presenting with weight loss, left sided moles, low oxygen , pain in abdomen and I have nodes in my neck . My concern is that I have EBUS booked for lungs - great. But the nodes in neck are not being investigated. Gosh I do hope this posts, I wouldn’t have just set no history.

A CT scan is made up of hundreds of individual images made up of slices and the contrast of the image itself is altered so you can best visualise different organs. There is nothing anyone will be able to tell from one single screenshot - even if they could, your photo doesn’t include the neck and the main part of the chest lymph nodes. I appreciate the wait is awful but you will have to wait for the radiologist to report it to know anything.

I see, thank you very much for this

As above @Spanglishmummy3a CT scan is made up of hundreds of slices. One single slice won’t be helpful in determining anything helpful for you unfortunately. As hard as it is, waiting for the report from a person who has thoroughly reviewed your scan is best. These scans are viewed in very high resolution monitors for a reason.
