Stent anyone?

My DH is going in for cardiac catheter to determine how much of a percentage two of his arteries have narrowed. He knows that he has some severe stenosis in one and moderate in another. He's very anxious because his father died from heart surgery. I'm trying to reassure him that this is a very common procedure and also having a stent inserted. Anyone else or their family member have this done?

My dad had a stent inserted a few years ago. 99% blockage. It was done via a big vein (artery?) in his leg. He was in hospital overnight because he had to lay flat and still for a number of hours afterwards. Felt much better once he had the stent in and was no longer in danger of dropping dead from a widow maker heart attack.

My mum has had open heart surgery for repair of a mitral valve prolapse. That was a bit scary.

I had a stent fitted 2 years ago as an emergency procedure whilst suffering a STEMI (a.k.a "Widowmaker"). It's fine. I was fully awake and never felt a thing. It's honestly no big deal. I had mine done through the arm and the most uncomfortable "side effect" was the plastic bracelet thingy that was secured over my wrist afterwards to keep pressure on the entry site to keep the wound closed. 2 years on and the only visible sign is a teeny tiny (pin-prick sized) mark on the inside of my wrist. I am completely unaware that there is a bit of mesh in my artery as I can't feel it at all. The blood is now flowing well and I am able to do everything I was doing before my heart attack.
