Aged Garlic for BP control?

Has anyone tried this?

I'm now on my "nth" attempt to find a drug that works/doesn't have severe side effects and I've found a few reports that aged garlic can make a real difference in cases of HBP where diet, weight and lifestyle are not a factor.

What do you mean by "aged" garlic? Black garlic? If not, where do you obtain it from? And do you have any link to any of those reports? I've hypertension where diet and weight are not causes and am on amlodipine so I'm interested.

I'm interested in this. Do you think I should take it in addition to the BP medication I'm taking or ask my GP if I can do a test with it instead of the amlodipine for a month? How are you taking it and which supplement are you going to try? None of the ones I'm seeing on Amazon indicate how long the garlic has been aged, but indicate mg of the concentration, so it's a bit confusing.

My GP recommended that I try the black garlic (in conjunction with other things) to bring down my BP, it has helped a bit.

Can I ask if one of the "other things" you're doing is taking medication for hypertension? I'm just concerned that I might be lowering my BP too much by doing both at the same time without medical supervision.

I've just ordered TERRANOVA Fermented Black Garlic FBG-22 which is the only vegan black garlic that says it has SAC in it and has been fermented for two years. My DH is going to take it as he also has HBP but is not currently taking any medication for it (although he was for over a year). If it seems to be doing something for him, I may take a medication break and try it instead for a month. I'll let you know if it does anything positive, although I suspect you may be doing your own trial by the time I get around to it. Thank you for pointing this study out.

I was interested in this because I have trouble controlling my blood pressure but have found that your shouldn’t take them if you are on blood thinners which I am.

I think I'm going to give it a try. My current medication isn't doing enough (anything!) so I doubt I'm at much risk of going too low so I'll stay on the medication for now to keep my GP happy and if I do see an improvement then reassess.

Let me know how you and your DH get on @SylvanMoon. I would far rather take a natural based supplement that targets the biochemical cause of the HBP then something that just relieves the symptoms of it.

I think that's a good choice @TheWytch. Do let us know how you get on too.

Just ordered -I'll try it for a month then take my blood pressure.

Looking forward to seeing how you get on with this. I am trying beetroot for my pre-hypertension but I did see garlic can have a good effect. I will report back too as I've only been taking it for a couple of weeks.
