Good morning, I'm looking for some advice, Last Sunday I started having some pain in my stomach, gp put it down as Gastritis is gave me Omeprazole. The pain was happening every 2nd day until this week were its happening every day and lasting around 6 hours at a time, sometimes but not all the time im having diarrhea and vomitting alongside. Im waiting on my results from an urgent blood test. Pain is on the right side and when at its peak I can't function, im literally rolling on the floor in pain.
Does this sound like gallstones or something worse?

Sounds like gallstones to me and they are very painful suffered in my 40s so glad to have my gallbladder removed. The only painkiller that helped was codeine and that gave me an upset stomach but preferable to the pain from gallstones.

I've had gallstones.
It could be. A good test would be to eat plain, fat free food for a few days and see if the pain goes away (bile is released from the gallstones bladder to digest fat).
If the pain does subside then eat something really fatty like a toasted cheeses sandwich.
Bile will be released and you'll get the cholecystitis pain quite quickly.

Also, when I had it I also had really dark urine because of all the bilirubin released due to bile duct obstruction. Do you have this ?

The only real way to tell is a scan.

Also, the pain from cholecystitis is upper right under your ribs.

I am on a similar journey although not currently rolling on the floor in pain.

Mine has been going on for 18 months, since a really severe episode on holiday.

Finally, this week my GP has agreed to ultrasound my Gallbladder. Do you need to go back to your GP and request the same?

I don’t fall into the ‘fat, fair and 40’ description often spouted as the risk profile for Gallstones, but otherwise seem to be showing a lot of symptoms whenever I eat fats. Pain under my right ribs, nausea, unformed stools etc.

I now realise that over the 18 months since my holiday attack, I have pretty much cut fat out of my diet without even thinking about it. My latest episode follows a bit of a cheese fest over 2 days.

I hope you get your blood test results soon and that your GP will consider an ultrasound to provide a diagnosis.

I've had all these symptoms. I hadn't made the connection with fat at first but it's a direct connection. My GP didn't think it was gallstones but sent me for an ultrasound which was clear - no sign of gallstones. So I'm stuck now, no idea what's causing it but I get pain around my upper right abdomen and nausea after eating anything fatty.

Thanks for the replies. Doctor phoned today and bloods have come back normal. I have an appt tomorrow to get checked over and get an ultrasound booked in

I almost forgot, often if you have gallstones your poo with have pals yellow/white bits. It's caused by the fat in your diet going straight through you.

Also @Pineconesandchocolate gallstones are commonly caused by hormones. I got them after taking the pill as a skinny 20 year old.
