Has anyone had elective lens replacement surgery?

I’m intrigued. I just found that people have this “just” to correct long/sort-sightedness as opposed to treating cataracts.

It is £££££. Is it worth it just to be free from glasses?

I just had this! Well I did also have small cataracts. I was extremely short sighted. Some of the cost was covered by private health insurance.

How was it for you @Purpleavocado? And if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? Is life without glasses life-changing?

I only had it on Monday. I am mid 50s. It is amazing. I have been short sighted since I was 7. Contact lenses since 16, coke bottle glasses. I still have reading glasses as that is a compromise for being able to drive without halos at night. I have multi focal lenses, which are fantastic for long and middle distances. My sight should keep improving over the next few weeks.

I had it done about 10 years ago - more expensive than laser surgery but the results are fantastic. I still have excellent vision at nearly 60, no need for reading glasses. Best thing I ever spent money on.

Me! I never wore glasses until I had to start for reading in my late 40's. The only thing I don't like is that my distance vision is not as good as before but I was particularly long sighted. Would recommend

Just had it done. I’m late 50’s. Best thing I ever did. Have always worn glasses. Can see again now. Had got to the stage where I was using the following at different times during the day! 2.25 readers, varifocals and/or varifocal contact lenses with +1 readers for small print. Only need +1 readers for ingredients size print. Sight will not deteriorate now so winning and happy as I can see!!

I'm interested in this. How can they guarantee your sight won't deteriorate again though? Is that not just due to aging and your eyeballs and supporting muscles getting slacker?
