Upper right abdomen pain; I'm a medical mystery it seems...

For the past 6 months I've been having intermittent pain in my upper right abdomen (about half way between where a bra band would be and my belly button, towards the right).

It's a burning, pressing type pain; occasionally intense but is short lasting, other times it's a general pressing pain. Can be at any time of day or night, can't identify a trigger like after or before eating.

Beneath where the pain is, there's a small lump. It's "moveable" and doesn't protrude so I can only feel it when I'm pressing on my tummy. It's been there a bit before the pain started.

I don't suffer from acid reflux or digestive / toilet problems.

My GP suspected gallstones so arranged an ultrasound but results showed gallbladder, pancreas, liver, kidneys, spleen all normal.

I did a H Pylori stool test which came back negative.

GP acknowledged I don't have reflux symptoms but asked me to try 4 weeks of Omeprazole to see if it provided any relief. I'm a few days off finishing the course and there's been no improvement.

GP said at last appointment that next step might be a gastroscopy.

I'm at a loss at what might be wrong. GP seems to be quite methodically going through the common causes of pain in that area but he seemed to be stumped. I am getting concerned I'll end up with a shrug of the shoulder and left to get on with it like I have with a suspected autoimmune issue (the bar for rheumatology accepting referrals in my area which I read seemed insanely high so another GP within my GP practice is basically left trying to treat the symptoms).

I would be really interested to know if anyone else has experienced these symptoms and what it ended up being. I'm not looking to diagnose myself but I think it might be helpful to go to my next appointment with pointers for discussion.

Have you ruled out a hernia of some kind?

I had this for about a year. Finally got an ultrasound and then a CT scan after months of omeprazole etc and the problem seemed to be with my spleen. But the pain went away over the next month or two, and by the time I had another ultrasound follow up the hemangiomas had mostly gone.

@HHCrochetDivaGP did examine me and hasn't mentioned hernia at all. Will have a read up and ask him about it. Thanks

@namezchangez This is so interesting as I had a huge skin hemangioma on my side when I was a teen. Glad yours finally resolved as it's scary isn't it. I guess I'm lucky my GP referred me for an ultrasound quite early. I'm definitely going to mention it at my appointment, thank you
