Hello. So not looking for a diagnosis, but anyone with similar experiences or sound advice would helpful!
I just started a new job and thought I'd make use of the free healthcare package to have a bunch of bloods done. They all came back normal, although one was highlighted as being at the higher end of normal. It was Creatinine Kinase at 193 (normal range 50-200). A quick Google sent me into a spiral of panic, from muscle diseases, heart disease and cancer!
My question is has anyone had a level like this where it was nothing to worry about?
I'm 39, healthy weight. I don't over exercise or lift weights. I'm of south asian origin (read somewhere about ethnicity impacts CK levels). I've made an appointment to see GP to discuss...

Your CK level is normal so I wouldn’t worry about it at all.

the people who requested this completely random investigation should be doing the follow-up rather than a GP - best bet is to go back to the provider and ask them to explain why it's normal.

Musicaltheatremum · 20/02/2026 12:19

It's normal. That's why there's a range. If I saw a result like that I'd file it away and not mention it.
Please cancel your GP appointment. That's why blood tests should not be done at random like this.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/02/2026 20:52

Are you taking any supplements with creatine in them? It is a common ingredient and converts to creatinine in the body.

You usually have to stop taking creatine supplements before blood tests or it messes them up.

Your blood test is normal so why are you seeing the GP?

SurreySenMum26 · 21/02/2026 20:58

I had a really high reading once. Post marathon level evidently. Next one was normal. All very random

Waitingfortheweekend2 · 23/02/2026 09:42

Thank you all for your responses.

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude no, not taking anything.

@Musicaltheatremum can I ask if you're a Doctor?

I really don't want to waste ant GP time. I'm not sure why this test was done, it was part of a very comprehensive package of bloods. My HA can take over at times

It's normal.

It also wasn't requested by your GP so your appointment is wasting NHS time. You should aim any questions you have to the person who requested this completely pointless and not clinically indicated blood test.
