Epilepsy alarms/fall alarms

My brother who lives with us recently fell downstairs as a result of a seizure. No injury as I was luckily behind him and broke his fall.

The epilepsy flare ups lead to a hospital stay every 3 months (post ictal confusion), but this latest was a short seizure, luckily not too far up the stairs.

We usually make sure as much as possible that he isn't alone for long spells, but we are going away in September

Im starting to get carers in weekly so that we can increase to daily for the period we're away. Also considering moving most of bedroom downstairs - he'd have to go upstairs to shower.

Does anyone have experience of fall or seizure alarms?

Chances are he'd be absolutely fine for the week away, he is fine most of the time. But if he started with confusion while we're away that could be quite serious as he would stop taking meds etc. I don't think he'd just get better without hospital visit - we often need an ambulance because we can't get him in the car once it deteriorates.

Any advice or sharing of experience welcome!

There are careline alarms that have automatic fall detection, with 24/7 monitoring to a local centre who will call 999 if they don’t get a response or if you’re not immediately available. Your local council will offer one and there are several brands available. Main thing is that he will need to actually wear it 24/7 but they have ones on wristbands.

Apple watches etc do have a falls detection capability but need a phone to link to and obviously are more £££.

Thanks for the response, I might just need to speak to him about it and give one/both a try
