dd, 2.5, kept falling over today. she's never been unsteady on her feet in her life but tripped and went flying five or so times. Any ideas?

growth spurt?

it was so weird. no new shoes, no foot growth so far as i can see, nothing unusual except that she kept on tripping flat out and bashing her face and hands on the ground...

Well, I think growth spurt. I seem to remember ds doing this at about the same age. It's to do with spatial awareness. All of a sudden, (and for a short spell), things just don't make sense anymore ... the body is growing faster than the capacity to deal with it.

I'll bet it passes within a week.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/06/2008 23:38

Growth spurt. Centre of gravity needs to be relearned. Bless her

AitchTwoCiao · 15/06/2008 23:38

ha HA. one real live vote for growth spurt.

What pouting? I just read the OP and replied.

Have one eye on MN, and t'other on blog

NoBiggy · 15/06/2008 23:41

Can't help with the causes, but I definitely remember at infant school there were odd spells where I just couldn't stay vertical. Scabs on scabs.

Same when I've had a long plane journey, I spend the next couple of days throwing myself at the ground.

Falling down season. That'll be it.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/06/2008 23:41

You, however, have no blog and thus no excuse. Poor, poor doodle

AitchTwoCiao · 15/06/2008 23:43

i have a blog. just haven't updated it for a year, that's all...

Aitch, I am immune to pouting

I'm a great believer in the destructive power of the growth spurt. ds's behaviour (for instance) is appalling when he shoots up .. he is rude, clumsy, destructive, and hugely accident prone.

In fact, it's so predictable, that I now use the red book like a bible. Some months, (providing your child stays on or near the same centile), I can predict when he's going to be a nightmare. For instance, he's now 3.7. The red book tells me that, on the 75th centile, he is predicted to grow 1cm this month.

Nightmare? Absolutely

Next month, he's only predicted to grow about a third of that ... so next month will be good

Yes, of course you have a blog. What is the matter with me????? I fear the magnatron has gotten my brain for good

Desiderata · 15/06/2008 23:48

Well, he's 3 going on 43, that's for sure, Kerry!

Desiderata · 15/06/2008 23:49

I do have four step-children, though. Maybe you've read one of my posts about teenagers.

Grrrrrrrrrrr
