First time mum advice

Hi,

My daughter who has only been walking a month, had her 1st accident earlier and banged the front of her head on our TV unit. Both myself and my partner was in the room but it all happened in what felt like slow motion and we couldn’t stop her in time

She has now got a purple bruise and a bit of swelling on the front of her head and also a little mark on her nose. I went onto the NHS website and was advised to use an ice pack/frozen peas for 5/10 mins then leave it a while and then repeat. She was absolutely fine as soon as it happened, cried for 5 minutes then just wanted to play. I looked out for all signs of red flags and she seemed normal, didn’t have any.

As a first time mum I still felt uneasy and decided to call 111 who told me to go to my nearest urgent care with her to be looked at & they said all is well, printed me out of list of what to look for if something was wrong.

I am now just panicking and thinking this will now be looked into and investigation by SS.
Has anyone experienced similar?

Honestly, this is so so so common, you are unlikely to get a call from SS. Hope she is ok and check on her overnight.

Try not to worry. You did all you could to make sure she was cared for after the fall.

Hope she's OK today.

It won't be looked into by ss. Unless there is a history of injuries presenting to urgent care/a&e/GP. A one off head bump does not warrant an investigation, frankly ss don't have the resources and staff for that shit.

Accidents happen and professionals know this. You did the responsible thing in taking her to get checked. Highly unlikely to have any contact from SS. I believe health visiting teams are informed of a hospital/urgent care visit so they may ring to check in but this is totally routine- just to make sure you and your child are ok. They may not do this but the trust i had a health visiting placement did do this- I haven't had it with any hospital visit with my DD1 but they were all respiratory related.

Please try not to worry, once babies get on the move they are always bumping things and you can't always stop it.
