I can not stop burping all the time

This is all despite having a very recent gastroscope which shows a perfect looking stomach lining (also had one 6 years ago which was normal too) and a normal colonoscopy 2 years ago and clear scans for gallbladder issues etc.

I have suffered with this (along with IBS) for many years but it has been getting so much worse over the last 6 years. I suffer from such a gurgling, rumbling gut which is worse after eating and I will experience very regular nausea and an acidic stomach which is only relieved by constant burping but as soon as I burp it builds up again and the whole thing goes over and over throughout the day. There is no rhyme or reason to this, it will happen if I eat or don't eat. I often wake up and start burping straight away and go to bed burpy.

My IBS is mixed so I flip between both constipation and diarrhoea, I have not seen any worsening or improvements with the nausea/burping during any of these times, it seems to be bad regardless.

I follow a low fodmap diet. I don't consume dairy, wheat/gluten and avoid all gas forming foods. I only drink water and the occasional ginger tea for the nausea.

I am 53 and in perimenopause and I am certain this may be exacerbating the issue. I chart my diet and symptoms in a diary and although I experience these gut issues throughout the month it is definitely much worse from mid cycle onwards.

I have tried PPI's but experienced awful side effects so just get by with off the shelf meds such as Gaviscon which really don't help much at all. I have had so many gastro tests that my gastroenterologist has kind of given up on me so I don't know what to do next.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am getting to the end of my rope with it.

I used to as I have stomach ulcers but omeprazole completely keeps it at bay and I have no issues at all.

I have tried several different PPI's but sadly they all triggered off my migraines.

Shave you been tested for Helicobacter Pylori? That can cause burping in some people.

My last gastroscope biopsy returned negative for H Pylori.

Maybe SIBO. I had IBS for years, tried FODMAPS etc. I live abroad where they tested me for SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) and I tested positive. Treated with antibiotics and diet.

Can you get something to manage the migraines?

I hate to say this OP but sometimes there isnt necessarily a reason for things like this, my dad has internal bleeding sporadically and again they've sort of given up investigating because they can never find anything (various scans, scans coming out of his ears), so he just has to manage it, take himself to hospital when its really bad, bt nothing else to be done.

I'll look into that, thanks.

Do you have rhinitis? That can cause air gulping.

Do you have rhinitis? That can cause air gulping.

I don't have an official diagnosis but I do often suffer from a lot of nasal issues (drippy nose after eating, one nostril is often blocked and post nasal drip).

For some reason I am quite clear today and can breathe well through both nostrils which don't often do. I do have less burping today, so far.

I do need to look into that a bit more and mention it to my GP, thanks.
