Serum alkaline phospatose levels

Hi,
I’ve just had some blood tests and apparently my serum phospatose levels are high.
I believe this is something to do with the liver?
Does anyone know what it might indicate?

It is also high if you have a broken / fractured bone. Know this as dh's levels have been high following open heart surgery but going back to normal now his ribcage will be nearly repaired. Were your other liver markers OK. The GP said they were really only concerned if levels were over 300.

In the absence of any other signs or symptoms it usually means low Vitamin D. Which is incredibly common in a UK winter.

If you have the NHS app then on the test results page at the bottom there's usually a link to a website to find out more information about the test. The website is labtestsonline in case you don't have the app.

@OneInEight
thank you for your reply.
the level was only 106, and ironically the lowest it’s been since October 2021
and no broken bones, though I do have severe osteoporosis in both my hips ☹️

@AnnaMagnani
thank you for your reply.

@MassiveOvaryaction
thank you for your reply.
I will look at that.
on the NHS app next to the test results it’s written
“results to be discussed at the appointment I already have arranged for next week”
I have crippling health anxiety and PTSD from a medical incident from several years ago.
it’s made me panic ☹️

I can understand you're worried but try not to fret.
I'd take it as reassuring they're happy to wait until next week to discuss it with you - when mine was high (about triple yours iirc) my GP phoned me the same evening I had the test! Mine was due to some kind of virus coupled with extremely low vitamin D levels. As @OneInEight says it can be down to bone issues I would imagine your osteoporosis is playing a part.

Hi,
I thought those of you who were kind enough to comment on my post to offer reassurance might appreciate an update.
I spoke to my doctor who was happy to reassure me that the results were perfectly ok and no further action was needed.
I am going to try and get some help for my ongoing crippling health anxiety and PTSD, it really does rule my life ☹️
Again, many, many thanks.
it really did help xx
