Female mid 30’s. Didn’t have an eye test at all between my teenage years until about 30!

family history of glaucoma, also most of family have have sight issues so decided to start going routinely around 30.

test today, last test was 2 years ago, she said only a slight change (haven’t got last times paperwork or the time before that!)

she said I likely don’t need glasses unless I felt like I was bothered by being slightly short sighted which I don’t feel like I am.

I have no idea what this all means. She said I have very close to 20/20 vision which surprised me.

I seemed to have missed the poor eyesight most of my family have!

but I still don’t know what all these numbers mean.

The SPH column gives the extent of your short sight so that's -0.5 and -0.25 ( the higher the number the worse your sight is - your numbers are small)

The CYL denotes you have a slight astigmatism and where on the axis the astigmatism is:
-0.5 at 100 degrees and -0.75 at 90 degrees

So you're slightly short-sighted (myopic) which means that the glasses will make things in the very far distance clearer.
You also have a bit of astigmatism (which is very normal, it's unusual not to have astigmatism), which means that you're more myopic in the horizontal part of the eye than the vertical side. It makes some lines more blurred than others and can make glare at night when driving worse.

So, whilst legally you're within driving standard without glasses, they will make things a bit clearer and will reduce glare at night from lights. They will also help with vision for going to the theatre/cinema if you're a long way away.

Oh, I also would recommend ensuring regular screen breaks - so every 50 minutes or so, look out the window for 5 minutes, so that you're not constantly looking at something close to.
