Lipoma removal

A bit embarrassed by this, but here goes. I have a large, painless lump in my upper arm. It's been there a few years but has noticeably grown in the last couple of months. I'm fairly sure it's a lipoma so have always ignored it.

Now however it's so large that it's making me really self-conscious (think satsuma size). I think it might also be pressing on a nerve (?) as I sometimes get a mild sense of pressure/ almost a tingling sensation around it and down the arm.

I'm seeing my GP about it in a few weeks, but has anyone ever managed to get a lipoma removed through the NHS? I know they won't normally fund cosmetic-only procedures but given it is having an impact, albeit a very mild one, is there any chance I might get it taken off?

If the NHS won't do it then I'll just suck it up and pay to have it removed, any experience with that would also be great to hear. Thanks in advance!

I had one removed last year on the nhs, it was on my shoulder about 4x4cm and not painful it just looked awful. I had to wait about 7 months in total from referral to surgery

Oh I'm glad the NHS agreed to fund it, thank you for sharing!
