DF is in late 60s but has been fit and active. In the last few months though he’s been having trouble with bad indigestion, burping, bloating and it turns out has been having episodes of vomiting after eating. The last few weeks he’s been getting weaker and he’s having a bad time in the last few days - really weak, no appetite and struggling to eat. Mum said this morning there is some yellowing of skin and whites of eyes.
he saw the GP on Friday who said he has lots of symptoms of SC so has started him on the investigations.

just wanted some support really! So worried about him. It’s really unlike him to be ill.

Thanks guys. @Seawolves - it’s most likely cancer. It’s crap isn’t it.

I am so sorry to hear this.

I am so sorry to hear this. I’m going through this with my dad right now. Looks like lung cancer but we will not know until all the tests.

How's your dad doing? I hope you're coping ok. 🫶🏻

They found something on the endoscopy- in his duodenum. Most likely cancer.

I’m sorry to hear this. In May 2023 my Dad was admitted with jaundice they initially thought it was a blocked bile duct, but further investigations said he had pancreatic cancer. He had various scans and after nearly a month in hospital they decided they could do the operation he needed.

He had the whipple operation and it turned out the primary cancer was in his bile ducts and one that can reoccur so he had six months of chemotherapy three months after his operation.

He was in for another month after his operation as he had an infection and a few complications. It was a horrible time.

He finished his chemo last March and coped remarkably well with it and since then he has been going from strength to strength. He’s got an appointment with his consultant next week which we always worry about.

The time he was first diagnosed was awful, couldn’t think straight or about the future, I’m sorry your family are going through this and I hope there is something they can do for your Dad.

Thanks @Yourinmyspot
dad actually has pancreatic which has grown into duodenum. It’s not spread so far so they are putting a bile stent in tomorrow and feeding tube, then they said he is a good candidate for the Whipple. He’s 68, very fit and active, doesn’t smoke and no health issues. It’s really nice to read your experience - it’s such a huge worry.

It’s ‘good’ that they should be able to do the operation. My Dad had a stent and feeding tube done too prior to unblock the bile ducts.

It is such a scary, worrying all consuming time, your Dad sounds very fit and I hope it all goes as well as it can for you all.
