Fungal nails tablet not working.

I’ve had fungal nails for the past few years. Tried the paint on liquid but it’s hard to keep up with so saw the doctor who prescribed a tablet for it. It did nothing at all, no improvement and I took it for 6 months.

What else can I try? Any magic remedies?

Definitely try tea tree oil, apply neat directly on the area. Worked a treat on my big toe nail. I made sure it went directly between my toenail and toe.

I used tea tree oil and coconut oil morning and night after washing and using a nail brush on my nails. I also cut my nails short the minute there was anything to cut off. 6 weeks was all it took. I may have been lucky, but I did deal with it quickly, and went online to find advice.

It is definitely fungal as I can see it. At least it looks like it. Maybe I’ll go back to the doctors to check again and test for fungus. I have some tea tree oil somewhere too so will try that. Bastard nails!

Definitely go back to GP. If it isn't clearing they should take a scraping, that is sent off for testing.
Psoriasis can cause toenails to look like they have a fungal infection

How do you apply it? With cotton wool and wipe over? Dh has it on his big toes.

I just drop it on and rub it in.

Teatree oil and garlic. Rub crushed garlic on with the the oil and eat lots of crushed garlic too.

I used a kid’s paint brush.
Be careful to avoid the skin around the nail, neat tea tree oil is strong stuff!

I’ve had fungal nails for ca 8 years. I’ve twice tried terbinafine but it didn’t work. Now taking itraconazole which looks like is it working! 🙏

I have had fungal nails for over 20 years. I've tried everything, including Terbinafine and laser with some success but it always came back. Right now I'm doing what I never used to do, and that's spraying shoes and socks every day with anti fungal spray and it actually seems to be working!

I know I don't need to tell you fellow sufferers it takes absolutely months before you can be sure that something is working, but so far this spray plus the accompanying products are working well. You have to be absolutely consistent though. I had no idea so much of it could live in shoes and socks - I thought the other treatments would blast everything away but obviously I was wrong. I feel a bit funny about saying what spray it is incase people think I'm advertising but PM if you want to know what I'm using.

How long is it since your treatment ended? It can take a year to see results

I know someone who couldn’t shift theirs with all the NHS treatments so went private and had them lasered. It worked immediately, after years of her struggling with it

I’ve been using the liquid since July. It’s doing a very good job. You just need to get on with it.
