Bifocal or varifocal

I’m struggling to keep switching distance and reading glasses.
My main problem is in the evening when I’m looking down at my iPad doing work while also looking up towards the Tv. Also found it very difficult recently when having to read and then look at a computer screen. So I’m thinking bifocal or varifocal. Which would be better suited to the situations I’ve mentioned. Also don’t want to spend a lot. I’ve got both my specsavers prescriptions ready and am hoping someone could recommend a online supplier.

I’m a dispensing optician. I ask you about your lifestyle, what you need your glasses to do, and then take many, many measurements to ensure your varifocals fit well and work. Online suppliers will use a photo of you wearing them at best - or just make an assumption for the measurements at worst. A one size fits no one approach. Rummage in a dentists recycling bin and pull out a random pair of dentures. How do they fit? You get the point….
Go to an opticians, get measured, buy the best you can afford, don’t go cheap. Varifocals are great if done correctly. They’re rubbish if not!

I'm having a bit of trouble with my new pair and Specsavers have been brilliant. They made up a new pair, which also weren't right, so did a lot more digging into what my previous pair where (different optician so they didn't have the full records). They are making up another pair right now.
I used to be able to use my old pair for near, med and distance, but needed to increase the distance part. In doing so it was at the expense of the mid range so they're working to remedy that.

Specsavers are a franchise so some are great and some not so much.

Get the best quality varifocals you can afford. It takes a little while to get used to them, but once you do, they are brilliant for watching TV and scrolling on your phone.
