Every time I look at poor dd I wince as she is so covered with spots - all over face and scalp, tummy, back and the worst crop of all are around her bottom and top of legs.

I use washable nappies but wonder if besides lots of nappy free time i should use disposables for a short time (natureboy or somehing)as especially overnight it must really irritate the spots sitting in a wet nappy!? Anyone have experience of this?

I have nappy creams and piriton and calomine lotion etc. but any recommendations would be gratefully received. Ds had a very mild case in comparison so I am a bit thrown. There are even spots next too her eyes - it looks so sore.... she is 2 btw.

Thank you.

DD had chicken pox while we were on holiday in the caribbean. She was really itchy and hot.

The best tip we were given by my GP was to fil a sock or leg of a pair of tights with porridge oats. Tie up the top and put it into a nice warm bath. Keep squeezing the sock and a white liquid will come out. Mix it in with the bath water. These baths were really soothing for her skin and we could pour the water over her head and face to stop those nasty spots bothering her.

It really, really worked for us. Dd ended up having about 3 baths a day!

Thank you Littlefish - I will try that

How horrible for you too have dd with chicken pox on holiday. We went to Canaries in Feb and dd had a bad throat infection so couldn't go to the beach or in the water - 'twas a nightmare so I empathise throughly!

our ds had chicken pox when he was 9 months old (and we were on holiday too) he was in washables, but i have to confess we did end up putting him in disposables for a few days, and we felt this helped him, we also did the porridge thing. We just left our ds nappyless for as much time as possible and the other times we used disposables, if you could consider this i would, just until they start to scab over a bit and appear less itchy.

Hopes sh fels better soon.

Thank you Morethanyou

I think I will get some disposables this am - nature nappies if available - but tesco's do not stock much else but pampers and tesco's own brand have left her free of nappy for last 2 hours just waiting to find the wet patch!

Highly reccomend you get some Piriton from the chemist if you haven't already - really helped DS and he didn't really scratch (only his head i seemed) although he was also covered in spots. Hope your DD makes a quick recovery.

Right have found the oats now will cut up some tights and run a bath for dd!

Astrophe - I have got Piriton - and am dosing her regularly but the spots are so bad I feel I need to do more.

If there are any particularly bad patches, try using some cammolime tea bags, just amke them as you would normally, allow to cool and then lay them on that area for 5 mins, if your DD will allow.
