Partner needs dental treatment

My parter needs dental treatment.. or so I feel. I’m convinced I can smell the decay or whatever it may be. It’s not a bad breath smell it’s different. I don’t know how to bring this up without offending. I have been seeking minor routine treatment myself, hoping this would spark the conversation but no luck. Please help

I think you just need to be honest. I had a tooth extraction last year and the only reason I knew I had an infection was because my teenager kindly pointed out the smell. He wasn’t brutal but just said “mum your breath is not good”. I genuinely couldn’t smell or taste it myself so was pretty grateful he didn’t let me inflict it on anyone else!

Tonsil stones?

You really should find a way to talk to him about this as persistent bad breath can be a sign of illness as well as dental problems.

Just tell him - it could be anything and you might save him from a worse situation.

Oral bacteria can cause heart problems.
I expect it’s puss you can smell. It’s vile.
Do what it takes to get him to the dentist asap cos for sure, it’s not going to go away on its own.

Thanks everyone it’s really a case of me getting my nerve up to say it out loud 😬 I appreciate the different causes this could be helpful if he has a fear and doesn’t want to go
