I have read a few odd threads about this over the years - in fact Mumsnet is where I first heard of it. It was a bit of a revelation to realise why I’ve always had large legs, even when I was clinically underweight at one point in my teens.

After a lot of to and froing through the systems in my GP surgery for a couple of years, I had my first appointment with the specialist nurse yesterday and she confirmed I do have it and measured me for compression.

Would be very interested in other’s experiences and things that help - especially non surgical things. I know I need to address my diet and get into an exercise routine, and my legs always feel amazing after being in cold water so these are the things I’m going to concentrate on.

Diet is realistically the most challenging for me as my daughter is super fussy and also has coeliac disease, already feels almost impossible feeding her dinner every night without thinking about something different for me!

Hope there are others who might value sharing experiences.

Pretty sure I have this too but more upper leg (thighs), always struggled with cellulite but with exercise and diet changes I have (in the past) kept it under control, but as I am getting older and hitting menopause it is getting worse 😬. I really need to cut out sugar, it’s something I really struggle with and I know I eat way too much and it’s probably what’s making my legs worse. I walk a lot which helps but I think I need to exercise more.

Hi, no real suggestions, but solidarity.

I also have/had lipodema affecting my lower legs. Like you, I was underweight at points and I still had disproportionately large legs.

Diet is key, although it won't address the root issue.

Working out your upper body more so there is more balanced visually is an option too but I eventually opted for lipo. It's been life changing, 7 years later and it's still the best thing I've ever done. Recovery was rough and I clearly still have lipo type fat in my thighs but I can live with that.

Good luck on your journey.
