Nortriptyline side effects - did yours settle?

I've been on 10mg nortriptyline for 6 days and about 3 days in started getting some horrible side effects, orthostatic low blood pressure (my GP has temporarily discontinued my BP meds because of it), palpitations, feeling quite nauseous, shaky and tired and sometimes a headache and stomach pain. The palpitations got a bit better since stopping the BP meds and my BP has risen.

I'm just wondering how much longer to persevere with it to see whether the side effects settle down. I don't need to be anywhere for around 6 days so I could potentially give it a bit longer. I know it can take quite a long time to work but my concern at the moment is whether I can tolerate it in time.

Anyone any experience of this drug? I'm on it for vulvodynia.

I started on this before Christmas. For about 10 days I had very disrupted sleep and bizarre dreams and then it all settled down and no other side effects. Im on it for chronic migraine but not sure if it's doing anything yet. I can increase the dose but don't want to go back to the lack of sleep!

Thanks. I forgot to mention the insomnia (odd when amitriptyline which is similar, makes people sleepy).

I actually skipped it the last 2 nights as was feeling so rough to see whether I felt any better but it's got quite a long half life so I'm not out of the woods yet.

I found it much better than amitriptyline - I was less groggy when I woke. It took weeks to get to a point where it felt right though. Mine was for nerve pain.

I can't really be feeling this crap for weeks, I've a block of once a week medical appointments for a month coming up that I need to be able to drive to. And my BP is rising again which means I'm going to have to resume BP meds at some point. I have multiple medical conditions that all clash with each other and managing them all is a delicate balancing act.

I hope it all settles down for you soon. Its awful when the thing that should be making you feel better actually makes you feel worse!
