Help it’s driving me bonkers

I think I burnt my finger mid December very mildly with hot drink but I can’t exactly remember. I’ve been left with a hard area that is insanely itchy keeping me awake. I scratch it and now it is a bit broken in middle. Sudocrem not working, used hydrocortisone cream from the pharmacist. But nothing has helped. I have bipolar and I need my sleep, it’s a bit extreme to see the GP though isn’t it? Anyone else had this

Agree that seeing the GP/pharmacist again will be useful. In the meantime, my go to is Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream for irritated skin

There is a cream called Biafine which is French- but available online here that is good for helping skin problems like burns.

Do you actually remember burning it OP? Have you had anything similar on your other toes, hands or feet? It might be a form of eczema which comes out like a blister, its intensely itchy, you scratch the skin off then it forms a leathery, hard skin till fully healed.

I've had it before and also a health professional. If you google though, it often shows the absolute, worst cases. I've had it from time to time and its never covered my whole hand, or whole finger etc like some photos show. How long did you use the steroid cream? That is generally the correct treatment. Have you tried applying the cream then covering it with a dressing to prevent scratching the skin off?

Another thing to consider is your general health. Any deficiencies like anaemia, low Vit D, thyroid issues? These won't cause it, but can make you run down and more likely to get things. When I was anaemic I was getting it more often.
