Success with banishing stubborn piles for good?

I first got piles when pregnant and cream and suppositories sorted it and then again with each pregnancy.

Started suffering again about 18 months ago (menopause etc) at times it is bad - internal piles and small (can just see them) I have tried witch hazel, germaloid creams and suppositories / at times better and at times not. Not much blood and don’t bleed every day. I know it itches like a bugger and bath does relieve it and harsh wiping feels good but bad later so trying hard not to. Recently using metanium on outside and it feels better. If I go, I wipe and then the wiping means I want to go again.

New year means I’m going to give myself a month of hitting it hard, so to speak - so far I have

  1. start the day with a glass of water
  2. have ordered and started on fybrogel husk stuff to dissolve in water and on day 2
  3. have ordered and started using wype gel - saw it recommended on here
  4. Order recurrent herbal haemorrhoid cream called Recuren Plus Hemorrhoids cream which had good reviews
  5. Trying so hard not to itch or rub hard

anyone had the persistent little buggers and got rid of them for good?

Yes I had them so bad that I was anaemic. I used creams but needed more. I had them banded and it worked but they came back after a few months. I then had a procedure called something like THD (sorry, can't remember for sure), where they use an instrument to cauterise the veins and seal them off. I had a GA and it wasn't very painful afterwards, just a bit uncomfortable. It was around 9 years ago and they never came back. It's worked brilliantly. Ask your GP to refer you to a gastroenterologist- even if you have to wait ages it'll be worth it.

Ok I might ask the GP in the meanwhile

I would. The consultant said that there's no way to get rid of piles without surgical intervention, especially if they're prolapsed.

I suffered with this from November through Christmas and only now feel better. Shoved every known OTC hemorrhoid cream up there, but no joy. I have an autoimmune condition and diverticular disease which appear to increase constipation. Woke up in the middle of the night with javelin arse and then the constant pain began. This is what worked for me:

  1. I never drink water, but I make sure I have at least 1 litre per day along with tea etc.. to stay hydrated.
  2. I also ordered the Recuren Plus hemorrhoid cream, which at first was pretty insane burning pain but after a while it created a pleasant distraction from the pile pain. I believe it also shrunk the internal pile I could feel, so just persevere, and use as often as necessary.
  3. Before I have to go to the loo, I put Vaseline on (I know TMI), I saw it mentioned elsewhere and honestly it helps.
  4. When you go, use a step stool to put your feet on, as this takes pressure off your pelvic floor and is a better position to go to the toilet.
  5. When the pain was at maximum and nothing worked I started using DulcoEase, as well. Still on 1 tablet a day just in case, but read the label to make sure it is suitable for you.
  6. I use water wipes for clean up, but very gently.
  7. After using the water wipes I use T.N. Dickinsons Hazelets Witch Hazel Pads, you can also leave one in situ for a bit as the cooling is utter relief.

Honestly it has been months of pain and ruined Christmas for me, but I am through the other side of it now. I still do all of the above apart from not having to use Recuren anymore.

I hope this helps you and you feel better soon.
