White patch on side of tongue

Just over 3 weeks ago tongue started to feel a bit sore, almost like I had burnt it. I woke up with several ulcers on tongue and I noticed a white patch on side of tongue which I assumed was from a ulcers. The ulcers have all cleared but white patch is still there. I also feel like I need to clear my throat a little throughout the day. I have bad health anxiety and have convinced myself its tongue cancer. I have to wait until the weekend is over to try and get a gp appointment. I will include photo to see if anyone has had the same sort of thing

You're correct,it doesn't always indicate cancer. My dh had his removed after a biopsy.

OP see a dentist and they should refer you for a biopsy if necessary.

I had something similar on the side of my tongue, it was a sore patch like an ulcer which had been there for a few weeks.
I went to the dentist and she made a referral to the consultant (or someone) but they refused to see me, I can’t remember exactly but something along the lines of it’s not bad enough yet. Fine. So my dentist referred me to private dental surgeon who did a biopsy which came back as nothing serious.
I wasn’t happy to just leave it and wait to see if it would get worse and bigger so I’m glad I got it biopsied.

I think the telltale appearance is lacy type appearance which I have inside my cheeks but when my tongue flares up it does look like that on my tongue.
