Hi everyone.

Had an eye test on 25th November 2025 where my right optic disc looked a bit blurred. Optometrist felt it was due to my myopic eye and an OCT scan confirmed I have a tilted disc. A referral was sent as precaution.

My NHS App just says 'referral is pending' for Neuro Suspicious Disc Clinic and due to be reviewed by 30th Jan 2026 and if I haven't heard anything to contact them. I think seeing the clinic name has freaked me out.

Does this sound concerning? I am really struggling with terrible health anxiety at the moment.

Many thanks for reading xxx

The disc is where your optic nerve enters the back of your eye which explains the neuro bit. Try not to worry- if anything changes with your vision you can always go back to the optometrist who can expedite things.

I’m not an optometrist btw.

As the PP said the optic nerve is the nerve fibres carrying the information from what you see to your brain - hence the neuro bit.

All "suspicious" discs go to a clinic of that name.

I have a history of loads of eye problems and opticians have a really low threshold for referral, if there is even the smallest concern they will refer to opthamology for more tests. More often that not there isn’t cause for concern and it’s just looks at, signed off and you’re discharged.

Because eyes can give indications of other problems early they like to check them out thoroughly and quickly.

I was referred several times for things like MRIs for possible brain tumours and was fine each time. I have something called Colobomas on retina in one eye and optic disc in the other along with some optic disc scarring and a previous serous macular detachment and now macular retinopathy and degeneration due to diabetes so opticians in general find my eyes a bit scary.
