Gledhow primary
Allerton Grange
then on to Essex University

I think my mum taught at Abbey Grange (can't ask her as she died 3+ years ago!) - if it was the school I'm thinking of, she was senior mistress or deputy head there. Laws was the surname, if that rings any bells for you?

bellavita · 11/06/2008 22:17

No, sorry the name does not ring a bell, but then again it was along time ago since I went to school so it just maybe that I have forgotten any names!

Allerton Grange - was the venue "The Allerton" near there? DH and I had our wedding reception there 21 years ago next week.

BecauseImWorthIt · 11/06/2008 22:17

No - that was Allerton High!

It was a long time ago!

Do you visit Leeds very often?

BecauseImWorthIt · 11/06/2008 22:21

I try and get up and see my dad, and if I'm working I try to make sure that my work (market research) takes me to Leeds as often as I can, but it is usually every 3 or 4 months, not more often than that.

We live about 45 mins away from my parents, but they come up on a Saturday and stay overnight every few weeks or so.

Think my Dad likes to do this as it is a change of scenery for him - since him and Mum retired, he has got his fishing, but she has got nothing and she does not like to go out very much. I have a feeling she thinks that now they only have a pension - money is not as accessible but Dad can't get through to her that they are more comfortable now than when they worked (anyhoo that's a different thread).

We go over there sometimes, but they live in a small bungalow now and Mum gets frustrated with her small kitchen and cooking - even though she was determined to move into this house. Don't think she quite thought about the logistics of moving from a 3 bed semi with all her possessions to a 2 bed bungalow which is a tad smaller.

NAB - coupled with runny nose and cough...........it may even be hayfever/allergy. DD (8) has hayfever, has been particularly bad for the last few days and last night came out in a bumpy rash on arms which itches and are about the size of pin pricks. They cut the grass at school yesterday which is why she is particularly bad.

NotABanana · 12/06/2008 12:33

DS2 seems better today. The rash is still there but not as red. He is the same in himself.
