Been suffering with debilitating symptoms since early hours of this morning, tried what I usually do (taken medication, small meal only, sipping water, keeping head raised) but no signs of feeling better yet.

Are you eating low acid/low fat foods until it eases? Water is probably the best drink for now. It can take time to improve, but be assured that you will feel better soon if you take the correct measures.

I hope you feel better soon.

Cant add to your list except a long term permanent cure for me was the Iqoro device, plastic oral exercises, about £160 but sfter weeks to 2 months use ot totally stopped my reflux. Mine was nonstop at one point. Taken no meds since a month after starting using Iqoro. I just use it occasionally now.

Warm water, eat a banana or I drink milk if you have no medication in. You can buy remedy over the counter in the morning

Thank you. This might be something I can look into

I’m lactose intolerant so wasn’t sure if that would make it worse!

Eating plain white bread sometimes helps.

Gavsicon (or own brand cheaper equivalent). Keep on swallowing it until your symptoms ease.

Going forward, a full spectrum Magnesium to support your gallbladder and help you digest fat. You can also drink more alkaline water, actiph8 on Amazon is good but expensive but really helped me when my digestive distress was bad. At the time I had no idea it could be gall bladder issues but the surgeon asked me a ton of questions and said that heartburn/indigestion and reflux can all be gallbladder related. And then he said (and this bit hurt) that im the perfect profile as I was Fat, fertile, female, and 40+ . Cheers doc! But sure enough my gall bladder was jam packed with stones, the duct was blocked and it was full of puss and adhered to other bits. Best thing I’ve ever done getting it taken out.

I went on HRT for bone health a few months ago. I think it caused acid reflux - GP wanted me to take PPIs for the reflux and I declined because long term PPIs are not good for bone health. I needed to figure out what was causing the reflux.

I came off HRT, that takes a while to know whether this makes an improvement.

I have stopped eating wheat (that made a big difference but it wasn't the whole story, next to go was chocolate, that helped a bit but I had another flare up a couple of days ago and the only new food I had was soy.

I don't intend staying off these foods/HRT indefinitely but it may take 3 months for me to heal and I can't start taking drugs to fix one problem with side affects that cause another .

Ginger ale, gulped out of the bottle. The fizz makes me burp almost immediately, but something about it eases the GERD. I have my husband do this, too, and it works for him as well.

This is in addition to the Omeprazole I take daily; I rarely have GERD symptoms anymore.

I have had this for many years and I have a hiatus hernia which exacerbates symptoms. One thing that I find helps is the pre-packaged bags of apple slices from the supermarket. From my understanding the thing they use to prevent the apples browning is an ingredient in Rennies. I don't know about you but when I take Rennies I always just feel like its just adding to the mix. The packets of apple slices work better than almost anything. If I wake up in the night with reflux I will eat a bag of apple slices.

Failing that, try Pepto Bismol.

Sometimes absolutely nothing helps but those two are my go-to. People think 'try apple slices' is on a par with 'try love heart sweets' but I swear by them. Please try it.

Don’t do this then!! Dairy gives me acid reflux!
