Have I damaged DS or his teeth by using too much fluoride?

In my confusion at the number of toothpastes available, the last toothpaste I bought turns out to be for 6+ years and I've only just noticed. DS is 22 months and we've been using it for the last few months. The toothpaste has 1450 ppmF, whereas the ones suitable for his age have much lower fluoride (500ppmF).

I've just been out and bought the right one but do you think I've harmed his teeth (or him) by using too much fluoride? He doesn't like brushing his teeth and when we do manage it he just sucks off the toothpaste and swallows it, so I'm thinking there can't be much that has touched his teeth, but he might have swallowed quite a bit.

I think the advice is to use a smear of 1000ppm for brushing, and swallowing should be discouraged.

Try this link for advice. I don't think you have anything to worry about

Thanks for the link. That's interesting, they say 1000ppm or more for under 2s, whereas all the toothpaste for under 2s is 500ppm. Now I'm more confused!

morrisons own childrens toothpaste is 1000ppm as is the toothpaste dd gets from nursery. I always use a 1000ppm toothpaste for dd (4) and ds (1 1/2)
