Hi. My Husband has psoriasis and his toe nails are really horrible. He has thought he had nail fungus but tests show not and that it could be related to the Psoriasis so he had an appointment with a Dermatologist and she said that he had a black mark under his nail and that it could be anything but it might be a Melanoma.
He had his toe nail removed on Thursday and the results will be back in a month. The plastic surgeon who took the toenail said it could be that he damaged his toe and there was a little spot of black so we have to wait now and I am really worried.
I had a cancer scare a few months ago and had to have a colonoscopy but they told me straight away it was all ok, but The build up was so intense, but Im not showing Im worried to my DH and he is putting on a good front.
My daughter died of a clear cell scarcoma in her foot when she was 24, 20 years ago. She is not related by blood to my DH.
Im just so worried and I wish the results would come and everything is ok.

I can understand why you are worried and a month seems a long time to wait for that sort of result. All I can think is that if they were really concerned would they not be able to speed up the process a bit?

I presume he will be going back for dressing changes/ someone to look at the wound in the meantime? Is there any black mark still there?

My son has had both big toenails removed (twice!) - as first time it didn't work and the dressings were a mess - I think he did have to go back to have them looked at.

No they just said that we could go to get the nurse at our GP to change the dressing. But it was so bloody I did it for him. It was suppose to be left for 2 weeks before the dressing changed but it was very bloody.
I think we just have to wait for the results. DH said don't bother the nurse if I can change the dressing for him.

Crikey - that was exactly like my son's foot first time round. It was chalk and cheese to the second op (which was done by someone else) which was effective at the removal...

I looked on NHS website re melonoma biopsy and it says 2 week wait there. I would be asking for results after 2 weeks definitely. And yes I would 'bother the nurse' for looking at the wound! Men can be awkward at the best of times - my DH is similar.
