We touched on my health anxiety and an obsession with feeling like every part of my body needs to feel completely smooth. GP explained at the start that breasts are naturally very textured and bumpy, i even had the GP literally examine my chest area, to which she said that everything felt normal. However, it feels like my breasts have got bumpier since the appointment. Especially towards where my lower breasts and armpits are, and prior to the GP appointment when self examining, I could feel a very obvious circle of movable, squishy and almost blister like area under right where my nipple is. I feel like I dont know how to proceed with this. Do i just stop microassessing this, or is it worth booking a private scan

Book a private scan. Let that be the end of it if it is normal.

At least you recognise you have health anxiety. As per pp book a scan and hope that will reassure you.. until the next thing anyway!

Anyone who replies to this post should bear in mind that reassurance seeking is a key part of the cycle of health anxiety and receiving reassurance whilst momentarily soothing sustained the cycle.

The one and only thing that can attack his anxiety truly is to not seek reassurance.

It is never about the one scan. What the OP is effectively asking is whether another step of reassurance seeking will help when all that it will do is fuel the health anxiety

Book therapy rather than a scan?

The bumpiness of your breasts is very clearly not the issue here. They have been checked and the GP has said that they seem normal.

So the next stage needs to be seeking help for the real problem, which is your anxiety about your health.

How old are you, OP?
