Any joy with the GP yet BD?

BlueDragonfly · 13/06/2008 11:45

i didn't ring yesterday, but i got a 'stern talking to' last night so rang earlier on the off chance they had one for this afternoon. They didn't but i managed to get a telephone appt because a Dr happened to be passing.

Dr thinks i am probably just overtired, over doing it and hormonal. which sounds about right. I couldn't stay on long as i was on my mobile because the home phone has been cut off but basically i need quality sleep (easy for him to say), to do less at home (again, easy for him to say with 3 children 5 and under!)and that my hormones are probably taking time to settle down.

But it is MORE than that,a nd you know it

I wish I was closer - I would go and speak for you

BlueDragonfly · 13/06/2008 12:48

he is probably right. glad i didn't waste an appt to be told that though.

How many women with PND think it is all their hormones, then miss out on their baby's first year?

laura032004 · 14/06/2008 21:42

I thought much the same with DS1, and didn't take ad's. Things were a bit worse with DS2, and I did take them. The difference is miraculous. I can cope with no sleep, no DH to help (away with work), illness, problems in the home arising, all without breaking a sweat Without the ad's I know for a fact I would dissolve into a sobbing heap.

Please persevere. Do the Edinburgh scale online, honestly. Don't lie to yourself. Take your answers to the GP and just hand them over. That should speak for itself.

I'm glad you've made contact but urge you to keep a close eye on your mood and go back in person if you're struggling.

There is good evidence to suggest that women who have 3 or more children aged 5 and under are at much higher risk of developing PND. Yes, you are probably exhausted and need sleep, but you may also be unwell and need help.

Take care.

expatinscotland · 15/06/2008 00:49

do less at home?

hmm.

i have had PND twice.

i get SUPER anxious and one of the things that sets me off is the house going to seed. it just gets to me like nothing else. i'll stay up and not sleep to clean.

take care of yourself, blue.

BlueDragonfly · 15/06/2008 22:00

my house is shit hole most of the time. I just can't keep on top of it

I was just the same. I think both PND and small children have this effect on me.

BlueDragonfly · 17/06/2008 10:45

i am quite slatternly anyway if i am honest but this is getting beyond a joke!
