Neck veins and singing

I've recently started singing in a group for fun and I've been told to practice singing in front of the mirror. What I noticed is when singing, the veins on the right side of my neck pop out. Due to terrible HA I have paid more attention to this and they don't just pop out when singing, but also when talking and when lying flat on my back. A quick Google says I shouldn't see these and that it could be due to heart issues. I have no other symptoms. I'm 43 and slim. The ones on the left side of my neck don't really show.
I'm so worried and can't stop focusing on this. Anyone noticed something similar on their right side of neck when it hasn't turned out to be a horrible illness 😒

Bump anyone?

Probably poor singing technique. You need to stop singing out of your throat. It's causing too much tension in your neck. Try singing out of your diaphragm (lower down in your chest).

@Fgfgfg thank you and I suspect that's true, however why do I still see the veins on the right side when I talk, and especially when I lay flat? I can't help but worry that this is a medical problem, with what the Internet says (something called JVD)...

Jugular vein distension does not make your veins stick out. It’s probably as a PP said that you’re holding tension in your neck.

Its just that Google says we shouldn't see the veins on right side of the neck and I don't really notice them in many people....

Obviously with all the usual caveats that no one can give specific medical advice on here…. When we sing, lie down, speak valsalva (eg ‘pop’ your ears), strain eg on the loo, it can raise intrathoracic pressure enough transiently to see neck veins (external jugulars) bulge as part of completely normal physiology.

@Greybeardy Thank you for your response. I do have HA so it's a struggle to relax about these things. I've noticed that my 5 year old is similar to me in that the veins on his right side are more noticeable, so I wonder if there's a genetic element to this?
