Am I overreacting to my symptoms?

I had a slightly raised FIT result last week and am booked in for a colonoscopy on Wednesday.

I am having no bowel issues at the moment but for the last week or so I have been having really bad upper gastro symptoms - painful spot under left rib, really painful back, indigestion and heatburn. I have no history of such issues at all so I am now petrified I have stomach cancer.

I feel like the colonoscopy will be a waste of time as the issue is more likely to be in the stomach.

I initally went to GP for alternating issues with both, but really it was excess wind in my bowels that was the most bothersome. That has completely gone. Meanwhile the indigestion/heartburn has really ramped up.

So overwhelmed by it all, please help me figure out what to do.
Tell GP now? Tell GP after Wednesday? Chill out as the stomach issues are recent and may just be some weird virus?

I do also have a headache and tiredness, but that does tend to happen while on my period.

Absolutely do the colonoscopy. If that doesn't find anything they will be more open to further investigations.

Friend in the States had colonoscopy and endoscopy done at the same session. Wonder if you could ask about that.

Thank you. I have health anxiety and it's hard to know what is anxiety and what I should really worry about. I have a work commitment tomorrow that I really don't want to miss but the worry is eating me up.

I can feel a hard spot at the end of my rib which i don't have on the other side and it's making me spiral.

Your upper issues could be stress induced.
I would do the colonoscopy (I've had 2, prep was worse than the camera) and then take it from there.

Your symptoms all sound like what I had before I had to have my gallbladder removed. Have they done an ultrasound of your gallbladder?

Thank you. It did ramp up when I got the missed call from the GP about my test results. I was so fine before that and didn't expect to hear anything back. It would be crazy for my mind to imagine all these symptoms but with my anxiety it is possible I suppose.

I have had 2 colonoscopies before so not really bothered about the procedure itself, but my brain just cannot deal with the uncertainty of not knowing what the hell is wrong with me. It's unbearable, I'd pay 10 grand for a full body MRI right now given the chance!

My symptoms are on the left and from what I understand gallbladder is on the right?

But yes' I've had an abdominal ultrasound for liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen and it was fine. Hence why I am worried about my stomach as it's the only thing they can't really see.

They did go over the sore rib lump with the US though and didn't think there was anything there to worry about so at least that's somewhat reassuring.

Pancreas problems can be hard to detect on scans. Probably not that, but right area. I have a pancreas disease

Thank you. From what I understand, pancreas issues are most likely to be linked with back pain so it would make sense but I remember the ultrasound doctor being pretty confident in saying it was normal and he can't see any pancreatitis. It is a mystery.
