Does anyone know if A&E will do anything about a large Ureteric kidney stone? We had to cut our holiday short as hubby got unwell abroad, they did a scan and he was told an operation is urgently needed (7mm stone), signs of infection, blood in urine etc..We flew home today, and wondering what is the best next step. Will the A&E treat this?anyone had something similar?

You need a referral to urology. Try your gp or 111.

Go to A&E if he is suffering with pain - if it comes and goes (like it did with me the second and third time) I had to wait a few months for my op and manage the pain myself (it was to big to pass naturally). But when it gets stuck WOW does it hurt and it is relentless! The first time I couldn't control the pain and went in for my op a few days later. He needs Diclofenac for the pain - morphine didn't touch it for me. The GP can prescribe this if you do have to wait. And a suppository is the best and quickest way to get it into your blood stream. Hope he gets it sorted quickly.
