How to reset tummy

I’ve been in bed for 2 weeks with gastro flu and became very dehydrated. The doctor was worried about the dehydration but seems happy about that now, and had told me to start eating to reset my tummy. I haven’t eaten for 4 days before that a only had a slice of toast and 4 cream crackers since the 25th November.

he said to start slowly with 1/2 slice of toast, that was the test he said if I keep that in don’t need to go into hospital happily 6 hours later I’m still good.

so I’m thinking maybe some more toast tomorrow, maybe some cream crackers ? But then what ?

I know it sound silly, but since my toast I’m now hungry first time in days and days, but 1/2 slice filled me for a couple of hours. So it really is tiny amounts little and often I suppose.

but I’m not sure what to start with. I’m not normally Ill like this, and when the children were ill toast, apple sauce, then soup and they were back, with in a day or two I’m not sure that’s going to work this time. They doctor said to try and work to eating normally by Christmas.

Chicken soup. With crackers. With toast. Then more chicken soup with salt in it too.
You’ll be fine.

Maybe try little and often. Bland, gentle food that will be easily digested.
Maybe a small bowl of milky porridge, something like bovil or other savoury drinks, milk shakes, boiled egg and some bread. Plain chicken, not too much fibre which might give you cramps.

Avoid dairy, when sick you expel the enzymes that break down down dairy products so you essentially can become temporarily intolerant. Avoid them for a few days and gradually re-introduce as you improve.

Mashed potatoes, steamed carrots and peas.
Butternut squash soup.
Porridge made with almond milk.
Oatcakes have gone down okay.
Bananas.
When I felt like meat I had a salmon fillet with sweet potatoes.
Apples and pears.
Marmite on toast.

Yoghurt didn't go down well - it smelt off and rancid even though I just opened it, presumably as PP said I'd lost the enzymes for it.
