Hangover cure

With the party season coming up I’m interested to see if anyone has any hangover cure suggestions (obviously the not drinking one is the top suggestion 😂)

I’m not normally sick the next day, it’s more the tiredness that makes me feel rough.

Any suggestions/ tips welcome.

I’ve had a cracking HO today..so I made myself get up, went for a 5k run, came home went back to bed for a couple of hours, now looking forward to slow cooker beef stew and roast potatoes..and an early night!

Have an Alka seltzer as soon as you get in works every time for me neutralises the acid in your stomach

Chinsupmeloves · 07/12/2025 17:59

Water and ibuprofen before bed and a lie in.

0% beer has been life changing for me.Not in the mornings obvs. I’m 54 and have only discovered 3 months ago that it’s ok to not drink. Never thought it would be me. Started by accident as wasn’t feeling well and continued. I still have maybe one drinks per weekend if I fancy it but now I’ve found 0% lager I don’t feel the need.

Sex (well, an orgasm).

Shower, wash your hair, clean your teeth, rehydration sachets, lots of water, a walk in the fresh air and then on the sofa in pjs with a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich. A nap and then an Indian takeaway and an early night.

HairyOobit · 07/12/2025 18:06

An orange ice lolly.

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 07/12/2025 18:10

A pint of water and two paracetamol before bed.
On waking two paracetamol and a pint of diarolyte rehydration stuff.
Then a cup of tea, a packet of salt and vinegar crisps and a shower.

Rehydration tablet
2 ibuprofen
Chippy chips with loads of salt and vinagar
Afternoon nap
Saag aloo and peshwari naan when you wake up.

Thats my usual plan.

You are a professional ! Well done !

I had a lovely boss who used to keep soluble vitamin c tablets for hangover emergencies. That or an orange ice lolly .

Virgin Mary, as spicy as you like.

You’re absolutely right, I never remember this.

Thank you, 41 years of hangovers.

I must admit though I missed the Bloody Mary that a PP mentioned. Add that in to the plan with extra hot sauce.

About 20 years ago I worked with a pharmacist who was around when ibuprofen first entered the market. They wanted to market it as a hangover cure but ethically weren't allowed to.
So 3x 200mg tablets before you drink, then another 3 when you come home. Both with food as it will protect your stomach a bit. I know the otc dose is 2 at a time, but the absolute maximum you can take in a day is around ..8 I think
Then another 3 in the morning.

Make sure you drink water in the day and before bed.
The ibuprofen helps your body retain water therefore lessening your hangover.

This tip has served me well over the years.
Although it won't help as much if you over do it and end up with your head in the toilet.

BlondeFool · 08/12/2025 21:45

Sprite and frazzles crisps sort me out

howshouldibehave · 08/12/2025 21:55

Toast and tea-slowly
A hot shower or bath
Two ibuprofen
Bacon buttie and a Diet Coke
A nap (possibly an orgasm first)
A takeaway
An early night

I often wonder if ibuprofen is the best pain killer. Would paracetamol be better??

I think my worst bit is not sleeping well/waking up really early so it's the tiredness more than the hangover that gets me. As a young person, I'm sure I just slept through the worst of it!

Myrkl at least 2 hours before your session. Water in between drinks
before I go out I put a large glass of water by my bed
helps but nothing cures a hungover as much as a bacon sandwich 🤤

MrsMoastyToasty · 09/12/2025 08:08

Irn bru (not the diet stuff)
Bacon sandwich
Crunchie bar.

PuppyMonkey · 09/12/2025 08:35

Coca Cola with white bread toast, lots of butter in the morning.

i also drink lots of water before bed which can mean I’m up a lot in the night having a wee but this is what the aim is, wee all the alcohol out before morning.

PuppyMonkey · 09/12/2025 08:36

Coke is best quite flat.

Mynumberone · 09/12/2025 09:58

Two ibrouprofen with water before bed and a slice of bread and butter.

Big Mac Meal with fries and full fat coke as soon as they deliver.
