Blood in stool

Hi, my DD (20) has reasonably long term gastro type issues. She has regular stomach aches, bloating, loose stools. Have tried cutting out gluten and dairy and didn't make much difference. She has had stool samples tested and blood tests over the summer.
A month ago completed a 6 month course of iron.
Has been seen a few times by GP
Does suffer with a bit of anxiety.
This week has had x3 episodes of blood in stool - fresh blood on wiping, and darker red streaks in the poo - this has lessened as the weeks gone on. No pain going to the toilet.
She has had GP appt but not till 17th.
Could it be IBS? Does anyone have any experience of this? Dr Google is scary....

My DD has IBD ( Crohns and collitisb) so this is something we've experienced a lot.

When she had stool tests done what were the results? If it was a fecal calprotectin test was she given a number or was she does told if it was normal or not?

IBS should not cause blood in the stool

Everything came back normal a few months ago. I thought GP might want a further sample but just booked face to face appt. I'm sorry for your daughter. What age was she diagnosed? What were her symptoms?

Hi DD was 12 and symptoms were blood in stools first and then vomiting pretty much non stop for three weeks. She was seriously ill by the time she was tested and her fecal calprotectin was 1800 ( normal is 30
I think) At this stage blood was just pouring out of her and she had completely lost control of her bowel.

It was during lockdown when it was hard to get in front of a doctor which is why she was so ill by the time a doctor agreed to see her. DR took one look at her and got her admitted to hospital as an emergency. That's when they did the stool sample and other tests and scopes followed which led to diagnosis and treatment.

Oh my goodness, that sounds horrendous. Your poor DD. I hope its being managed now.
