Contraception advice!
I’m 44 and have very heavy periods causing anemia. What’s the most effective contraceptive to use to regulate periods? I was advised hormonal coil? Haven’t used hormonal contraception before.

I started taking cerazette in June, haven’t had a period since. I am however older than you.

I gad the mirena coil fitted last year, cannot believe the difference it made, no period since, tiny amount of spotting occasionally. I used to have heavy periods, it doesn't have to be like this, should have had it 10 yrs ago. Threw my moon cup out a couple of months ago

Definitely Mirena 👌🏼

I got given Slynd for my periods, it’s a newer progesterone only pill and changed the game for me.

I really like my progesterone only pill. I've been put off coils with the risk of it not agreeing with you and you being stuck with it until you can get a doctor to take it out.

Have you heard about tranexamic acid? Not a contraceptive, but it makes periods less heavy. GP prescribed it for me and it cut mine down to almost nothing.

Completely depends on the individual OP. Peoples bodies react differently. Even you will react differently to different options throughout life.

When I went on the mini pill at 18 I had a 3 month long period. When I went on the exact same pill at 27 my periods stopped completely.
