recurring thrush, at wits end

I am getting thrush every time I ovulate, or every time my dp and I have sex, even if he uses a condom. It is beginning to destroy our sex life. what can I do about it? What can the gp do?

Anyone who suffers from thrush should try pears soap. I used to suffer from thrush continuously after using various soaps and bubble baths, but since i stopped using anything in the bath apart from e45 bath oil and only washing with pears soap I havent had it for over 2 years now. It really was a lifesaver IMO.

I reckon a nice easy solution to rid oneself of thrush is to give birth - clears everything out And acidophilis helps too, IMO.

oh god, i'm not saying this is a factor with you itchy...but do you make sure that you are really properly 'wet' before you have sex...if you're not properly lubricated, the friction is enough to cause thrush and this is a big (and not very much discussed) cause of thrush....sorry sorry sorry but had to post as it might be relevant

the infection that causes thrush is nothing at all to do with cervical cancer or abnormalities.

I have had recurring thrush too. Went to gp and spoke with gyno in usa. Conclusion is that I've got eczema of the vagina (there's an official name for it, but that's the gist of it). Sex, particularly dry sex can aggravate it. It's not uncommon in women in their 40's and going on the pill to regulate hormones can help.

I can't believe how similar your symptoms are to mine itchy. I seem to get thrush or what I believe to be thrush every month and I suspected around ovulation. This has been for about a year. Now I am worried by all the other things it could be Off to GP next week!

biglips · 23/01/2005 00:22

ive had mine for 3half yrs cos my job was stressing me out and when i felt really run down i used to come out with it - me and DP treated ourselves over the counter with cansten cream. then i was worried when i was pg the thrush would come back but it didnt coz i was ssssooooo laid back. had baba 16 weeks ago and no sign of thrush but when ever we have sex, i've got to put k y jelly coz feel 'abit dry down there!' on the outside..

duckegg · 23/01/2005 22:54

can i ask, is thrush sometimes not itchy or sore, just the discharge? I seem to have it all the time and the doc has given me 6 lots of canestan and said to use one every month at the time i usuually notice it. If it's still coming back after that she will refer me although she took another swab b4b xmas to make sure it's thrush again that i have and somehow the lab never got it, it's lost!

biglips · 24/01/2005 17:48

the white discharge with no itchness is what i normally get before im due on

duckegg · 24/01/2005 18:01

have appt at docs tomorrow for a swab.

Pretty sure it is thrush, I think I have it in my bottom as well as that also itches and the crease (am so sorry about this ) gets itchy and sore from time to time.

Not in the least bit worried about cancer as have just had a clear smear.

Ovulation brings on thrush here too. I use natural yogurt. I just stuff it right in as far as it will go and hey presto, it clears up in a day. Cheap and very effective.

itchy · 27/01/2005 12:13

saw docs today who has referred me for swabs and also blood tests as I had some sugar in urine - she said recurrent thrush is usually caused by diabetes
