It was awful.

He fell from the climbing frame in our garden.
He came running over to us, screaming, and you could see straight away that it was broken.
It was totally bent. Dh was hysterical. Screaming and swearing.
Thank goodness our friends were here who were fab.
They called 999 and looked after dd and their kids.
Dh couldn't drive as he'd had a few beers and our car is in the garage.

He has broken both his bones below the elbow.

He had an opp today to straighten it and we have to go back in a week to see if it's moved. If it has then he'll need another opp to pin it.

He was really scared about being put to sleep. Kept screaming and crying. Was so frightened.

I oddly, haven't cried at all. It's wierd. It feels like I don't care but I really do. I've just been focussed on getting him fixed.

Crapolla week all round .
I got made redundant as of sept and our car has cost us £1000 in repairs and dh got caught by a speed camera.

Just thought I'd let you all know.

Could you bear to let him go to school tomorrow? Maybe take him out for lunchtime like I did?

bellavita · 09/06/2008 17:03

That's DS1's birthday - he was also born on Friday 13th - yikes!

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/06/2008 17:26

for you and ds pm. Hope his arm is better soon.

I could do I suppose seeker. I just want him where I can see him I suppose.

I'm also worried he'll start crying agian if I bring him home for lunch. He used to cry loads at school especially at lunchtime. He's ok now but I don't want him to start crying again when I leave him there.

Oh this is all pants.

I put him to sleep and he had his arm on pillows. When I checked after 10 minutes he'd rolled over and it was by his side. I rolled him back and put it back on the pillows but I bet it will come off again in the night. Is that ok?

DS1 had to have his arm raised on a pillow when in bed or sat downstairs.

What will be will be in bed, don't worry about it. As long as it is raised for the majority of time out of bed, it should be ok.

I think you can only elevate it as much as you can. Ds ends up lying on top of his and I worried at first. A week down the line I'm accepting that I can't do anything about it. And I so understand the not letting him out of your sight - I had to really grit my teeth to sent mine to school - but I really think it was the right thing to do. And I don't actually think I needed to take him out at lunch - it was for my piece of mind and he enjoyed it, so it was a treat for both of us. He was completely fine today - went to after school club as well - and came out full of beans!

I am keeping him at home tomorrow. And then I'll see how is for wednesday.

During the day it's in a sling. That's ok isn't it? He can't keep it up on pillows cos he's never sitting still.

OK, what they said to us was to keep it in a sling, and whenever he was sitting down to elevate it. They also said to watch his fingers, and if they looked swollen (or more swollen than the had been) to sit him down and elevate it for half an hour. We had to do this a couple of times, and it was amazing how the swelling went down - almost before your eyes.

I'm sure he'll be fine - certainly chez Seeker it's the rest of us that are suffering - ds is relentlessly cheerful and energetic and generally bonkers, dp is a bag of nerves, dd is seriously grumpy and I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof!
